Bryan's Profile
My name is Bryan Milner, and together with my wife Denise, we form the British contingent of move2bg.com
We
both come from a Health care background with Denise specializing in
caring for Children with Special needs while I did my best to help
people with Mental Health problems in the community.
We
moved to Bulgaria with our two dogs (Maiseyray and Angel), our cat
(Specs) and our Tortoise, (Some Bulgarian name that I can't even
pronounce never mind spell) searching for an escape from the ratrace
and a retreat from the pressures of modern day living.
In BG we found both and also the kind of peace and tranquility that we believed the world had lost.
Moving
here wasn't all roses we did get lost in the bureaucracy of this former
Soviet state and we had to adjust to a way of life that was so very
different to our own, plus the country was, and still is, going through
massive changes adapting to its new inclusion in the EU and the influx
of foreign tourists and settlers. This is where we were very
lucky and found our "Friends in Bulgaria"
They
patiently took us by the hand and led us through the local practices
and requirements and enabled our Bulgarian dream to become
reality. It was at this time that we had the idea of offering a
service that we would have wanted, where we had someone who did not
want to just "sell us a house" but we had a friend who would help us to
find THE house and then enable us to turn it into our dream home by
recommending tried and trusted local craftsmen who not only did great
work but did not see us as "wallets on legs" We wanted someone
familiar with local practices who could, if we needed, oversee any work
we wanted doing to build our dream. We wanted someone who would keep us
informed, as often as we wanted, on how our dream was progressing and
if we wanted send us ongoing photos so we could watch our dreams take
shape. We wanted someone who could lead us through the bureaucracy of
the land and sit us down with a coffee when we were ready to scream
because it had taken several hours to negotiate what would have been a
five minute phone call in UK.
This
may be risking putting you off buying in Bulgaria but I do believe that
all of the initial stress was less than I experienced buying a house in
UK and the end result was immeasurably more worthwhile. It was
from these ideas and our wish to share the treasure that we have found
that Homesearch Bulgaria was born
Bulgaria
is a land where it does not take much to persuade the locals to have a
party or festival and where you are always invited. It is a land
where one birthday a year is not enough so we have a second one and
call it a "Name day". It is a land where you are more likely to be
stuck behind a herd of sheep or goats rather than anoher car, but it is
also a land where you don't care how long it takes to reach your
destination because the journey is the best part.
If
you think you could share our dream and you too could love a land stuck
in a time warp then give Bulgaria a try and if you want a friend rather
than an Estate agent then speak to your "Friends in Bulgaria and give
us a try. You will not be disappointed in either.
Denise's ProfileI'm
Denise and I am waiting to welcome you to a totally better way of life
where you can enjoy every moment without any of the stress and strain
of the modern world.
I'm in my mid 50's and it reminds me of my childhood growing up in the countryside in the late 1950's.
Although every one works hard there is no rush and plenty of time to
chat over coffee, lunch or a beer. So what started out as a 'nip to the
shop', ends as a morning or several hours.
Many years ago I dreamt of living 'the Good Life' and now I have found
it and what's more the climate and people support this way of life.
Everyone
grows their own veg and fruit, have chickens, goats and sheep. Also
they make their own cheese (which we have made) and like the old days
in UK they preserve and bottle all. Neighbours are always on hand if
you need help or advice and within the villages' there will be several
people who can point you in the right direction for your needs, whether
it be mechanic, carpenter, gardener or where to get good chickens. No
doubt you have guessed I love gardening especially growing food etc.
One
of the things we have found helpful is the 'grape vine'. The village
will have your needs sorted in no time at all, they are either related
to the mechanic, can recommend a friend or someone good that they have
used.
Well
what else can I say, except that if you have had enough of the
inflation and rat race of the western world, come take a step back in
time and life style and enjoy the clean air and untouched scenery. Then
see if you can tear yourself away from this heaven on earth.
See you soon I hope.......... Denise
